Intermittent Fasting with Bulletproof Coffee by MSPETIT

INTERMITTENT FASTING

Cycling between a period of fasting and non-fasting during a defined period.

So what is all the fuss about? What is the science behind it? And how do you get started?

Lets start with the Fasting part. Fasting in the strictest sense means NO food or drink. That's correct and I repeat no food or drink for a defined period of time. However there are many variations of this and Bulletproof Intermittent Fasting is just one of them. Unlike strict fasting which is no fun and virtually impossible for most mortals like me who wake up like hungry hibernating bears, Bulletproof Intermittent Fasting puts the FUN back into Fasting with a list of added perks!

Now you probably never considered it but the word BREAKFAST saids it all. Your morning meal is simply a "Breaking" of the "Fast" daily ritual. So at a very minimum you are already fasting everyday during your sleep. So now leverage this daily occurrence in your favour and extend the fast with a Bulletproof Coffee so that you reach 16 to 18 hours per day. This then gives you a 6 to 8 hour "Feeding" window. The schedule looks something like this:

How to Make Bulletproof Coffee

Step 1 - Make your coffee the way you like it. Drip, Press, Plunge. Its all good except for the use of paper filters as they soak up the beneficial coffee oils. You can use Bulletproof Coffee or Coffee which meets the following standards. (IT DOES MAKE A DIFFERENCE as cheap coffee can give you jitters and brain fog!!!)

- 100% Arabica beans (less moldy)

- Organic/Rainforest Certified

- Single Origin (stay away from blends)

Step 2 - Add 1 to 2 Tablespoons of Unsalted Grass-Fed Butter. When in doubt go for an Irish Brand. Grass is cheaper than grains in Ireland so there is a higher probability that the butter is indeed Grass-Fed even if it is not labelled as such. Grass-Fed simply means the cow ate grass. This is important because it increases the omega-3 fatty acids, beta-carotene, fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K, CLA (a fatty acid with powerful fat-loss benefits), and antioxidants in the butter. YUM! Another perk of Grass-Fed butter is that it contains higher levels of butyrate, a short-chain fatty acid that can both prevent and decrease inflammation. High levels of inflammation is linked to everything from depression to cancer, so the less inflammation the better!

Step 3 - Add 1 teaspoon to 2 tablespoons of Bulletproof Brain Octane Oil. It is the best that Bulletproof has to offer distilled from only 100% coconut oil and taking ONLY the Caprylic Acid Triglycerides C8. However using a Quality, Organic, Cold Pressed Coconut Oil as a back-up works too! I tried my first Bulletproof coffee this way, as I was living in Brazil without access to bulletproof products and it still rocked my world! The difference is that coconut oil is mostly Lauric Acid (50%) C12 which is less likely to breakdown into ketones unless you are on a very low carbohydrate diet. Bulletproof Brain Octane Oil on the other hand is 4x more effective at raising your ketone levels (helping your body burn off fat instead of sugar). Lauric Acid is however awesome for other things like fighting off viruses, fungi, and bacteria, including Staph and Candida.

Step 4 - Mix it up in a blender! It will foam up like a frothy cappuccino...DELICIOUS!

TIP - SPICE up Bulletproof Coffee with dash of quality vanilla, 100% Cacao powder or Butter, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg and/or Cardamon.

Alternative to Coffee ---> TEA - If you're not a coffee lover or just want to mix it up, you can substitute Coffee for Tea. Ideally a tea with a high content of caffeine like Green Tea (awesome because it has loads of anti-oxidants too), of high quality and organic.

6 - 8 Hour Feeding Window

During Feeding Window eat as much as you need to be totally satisfied. The number of meals you eat during this time is irrelevant, as is the amount of calories.

Break the fast ideally with Bulletproof Foods (Nutrient Dense)

Only 1 Starch OR Fruit during 'Feeding Window' with last meal

Stay away from Sugars (Watch out for hidden sugars in i.e salad dressings etc)

Welcome to a whole new world! The extra pounds will effortlessly drop off and when you've reached your ideal weight just go back to eating breakfast (Bulletproof Style.. no sugars or low nutrient carbs but rather quality Fats & Vegetables with a dash of Protein.
